40% to over 60% chiller plant and boiler plant energy consumption reductions related to the dehumidification process.

Conservant System’s High Efficiency Dehumidification System (HEDS) is currently reducing dehumidification related chiller plant and boiler plant energy consumption by 40% to over 60% while reducing or eliminating biological growth and the associated health, wellness, productivity and hazmat remediation expenses. For retrofits or new construction no other technology compares in efficiency, simplicity, reliability and sustainability.

HEDS SELF FUNDING SOLUTION

A HEDS system will begin paying back its investment immediately. If you are beginning an energy efficiency project, choosing a HEDS solution puts you ahead, helping your Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) and Utility Energy Service Contract (UESC) dollars go further.

If you need cost-effective energy efficiency that doesn’t sacrifice the comfort and safety of your people, make sure to ask for the High Efficiency Dehumidification System (HEDS).

HOW DOES HEDS WORK?

DEHUMIDIFICATION WITH TRADITIONAL AHUS

In traditional Air Handling Units (AHU) designed for dehumidification, air is sub-cooled to draw moisture out, then reheated using a new energy source to raise the supply air temperature and lower the supply air relative humidity. This process uses energy inefficiently, and is now banned by ASHRAE codes. At many facilities, the reheat portion of the process was never designed into the system, or it has been shut down due to energy waste concerns, nearly guaranteeing that mold will grow in the facility.

DEHUMIDIFICATION WITH HEDS

HEDS turns the old system on its head. Significantly larger coils derive 100% of the reheat energy from the low quality heat captured in the cooling process, and reduces the cooling load delivered to the chiller plant by exactly the amount of energy that was reclaimed in the reheat process. This method reduces energy consumption and consistently produces dry, cool air, free from mold and airborne pathogens.

UP TO 3x MORE EFFICIENT THAN TRADITIONAL AHUS

By using the low quality “waste heat” from the large cooling coil to reheat the supply air instead of using a separate reheat source, HEDS is able to reduce the overall chiller plant and boiler plant energy consumption by 50-70%. The recovered energy completely eliminates the need for additional reheat energy for relative humidity control and space comfort.

HEDS persistent value is realized in the following areas:

  • Improve HVAC system resiliency

  • Reduce RH-control energy consumption by 40% +

  • Reduce biological growth

  • Cost avoidance by reducing maintenance and illness from mold and corrosion

  • Minimize system downtime and preserving productivity time

  • Reduce Maritime Corrosion

  • Renewables friendly

  • Improves chiller plant effective capacity by 20% +

  • Enhanced energy efficiency incentives

  • Eliminate "Low Delta-T syndrome"

  • Built-in FDD system improves sustainability
